About The Role:

The Executive Director M&A Operations, reporting directly to the SVP, Global Head of M&A Operations, will be a key leader in driving the development and implementation of best-in-class M&A operations practices across diligence and integration. This individual will drive diligence and integration for all types of M&A transactions, providing valuable input and recommendations in partnership with Integration Executives and Executive Sponsors on M&A transactions. The Executive Director will identify gaps and areas of improvement for diligence and integration within transactions across the organization. They will play a key leadership role in enhancing the process, leading the success of M&A efforts.

This is a business-critical role requiring proven experience handling large scale / sophisticated deal related due diligence, post-merger integration and divestiture programs (acquisitions, mergers, divestitures and/or carve-outs) and solving cultural integration challenges with a pragmatic approach.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead M&A due diligence, integration and separation efforts with autonomy and be center of expertise across the company.

  • Function as an M&A Deal Lead, collaborating with Business Sponsors, Integration Executives, the Corporate Development team and business function partners to rigorously evaluate deals, identify and structure key initiatives for generating deal value, and construct tailored integration programs to deliver on deal objectives.

  • Trusted business advisor to Integration Executives and other functional integration leaders, providing standard process input, leadership, and guidance throughout the M&A lifecycle.

  • Lead process improvement initiatives with the SVP, Global Head of M&A Operations. Work across the M&A Operations team to gather valuable insights and implement solutions to enhance M&A outcomes.

  • Provide input to appropriately allocate resources to M&A transactions, identifying and mitigating gaps and needs where applicable.

  • Lead continuous improvement efforts and diligence and integration processes improvement, including playbooks, tools, and documentation.

  • Identify and clarify issues, risks, and opportunities driving appropriate options and resolutions, articulating in a balanced way the tradeoffs of various approaches.

  • Provide recommended diligence and integration strategy supporting the Global Head of Integration, tightly aligned with the financial case, and commensurate with the size, complexity, and risk of the transaction.

  • Build strong working relationships with senior leadership at the newly acquired organization, ensuring you are a leader they can trust and partner with. Inspire teams that may have never collaborated before to work toward a shared goal.

  • Mobilize and lead virtual teams and manage to schedule and results.

  • Facilitate connections and resolve cross-functional issues and prioritization conflicts within M&A transactions.

  • Create content for presentations (management and target) and report on integration plans and status, including executive-level status updates

  • 10-12 years of experience in M&A diligence, integration and separation, or large-scale business transformation programs preferred. Relevant degree or similar academic experience.

  • Experience in M&A dealmaking preferred.

  • Outstanding process and project management skills.

  • Strong strategic thinking and critical thinking skills.

  • Global or multi-national business experience preferred.

  • Experience in roles with exposure to multiple business functions (e.g., technology, human capital, finance, tax) a plus.

  • Strong interpersonal & leadership skills to influence and build credibility; This leader should be collaborative, diplomatic, and flexible.

  • Ability to understand culture differences to inspire change lead change and engage partners across the organization.

  • Strong executive presence & ability to influence at the highest levels senior management & business partners.

  • Excellent presentation and writing skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products.

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

New York Residents: CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the M&A Executive Director position is $220,000 annually and the maximum salary for the position is $260,000 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE’s applicable benefit program.
