When clients need capital, Global Capital Markets (GCM) responds with market judgments and ingenuity. Whether executing an IPO, a debt offering or a leveraged buyout, GCM integrates Morgan Stanley’s expertise in Sales and Trading and Investment Banking, offering clients seamless advice and sophisticated solutions. GCM originates, structures and executes public and private placement of equities, investment-grade and non-investment-grade debt and related products. The group provides fresh ideas and broad distribution to help clients get the most out of each stage of a transaction, and continually develops capital markets solutions to enable clients to mitigate strategic, operational, credit and market risks.

Our New York office is looking for a Vice President to join the Credit Advisory Group (CAG). The CAG team members are expected to have experience in fixed-income capital markets, investment banking and credit risk analysis advising high yield and investment grade clients in their capital raising and strategic financing decisions. CAG members worked very closely with GCM and Investment Banking colleagues and have a substantial focus on corporate credit including the rating impact from strategic decisions associated with M&A, LBOs, stock buy-backs, hybrid issuance, special dividends and general capital structure positioning. Ability to work closely with GCM and Investment banking colleagues is paramount in providing seamless advice to senior management of Fortune 500 companies on strategic positioning to optimize corporate financing decisions with investors and rating agencies. Such advice to fortune 500 and mid cap clients as well as private equity sponsors on optimal capital structures include debt capacity associated with M&A, LBO and other corporate finance strategic decisions, liquidity analysis, loss given default and recovery analysis and general rating advisory methodologies, as well as best positioning clients for credit rating defense and paths for rating upgrades.

  • You have an ability to manage multiple projects, provide complicated financial analysis, and develop appropriate corporate finance and credit advisory solutions.

  • Comprehensive understanding of Debt Capital Markets

  • Extensive Rating Agency experience (highly preferred) with comprehensive insight and perspective of Rating Agency’s overall credit analysis and methodologies

  • Extraordinarily high level of motivation and commitment to working hard

  • Extraordinarily high level of focus on work quality and attention to detail

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Professionalism and ability to articulate and present complex rating agency methodology, criteria and rating impacts on complex transactions in a clear and concise manner during client interaction meetings

  • Commercial instinct and ability to perform under pressure and tight deadlines

  • Interest in developing a career in Global Capital Markets

  • Bachelors degree is required; an MBA, CA and/or CFA designation would be an asset

  • Series licensing or must obtain

/Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $250,000 and $275,000 per year at the commencement of employment.
