Description

The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for managing inventory control and reporting in Blue Cherry effectively, including the processing of any inventory adjustments after finished goods are received. This role ensures compliance with all 3PL’s and serves as a key liaison between the 3PL and Sales departments for regular status updates on open pick tickets and shipping schedules. This role also collaborates closely with Finance and Operations on inventory adjustments and costing matters.

Responsibilities

  • Execute All Stock Adjustments: Proactively manage all stock adjustments, particularly in cases of shortages at a logistics provider (3PL). This involves a detailed investigation of the cause of these shortages and maintaining meticulous records to prevent future occurrences.

  • Inventory Transfer Facilitation: Be the lead in initiating and managing the transfer of inventory between various locations. This requires solid logistical planning and cross-departmental coordination.

  • Stock Adjustment Update: Take charge of updating stock adjustments from Pre-pack to open stock and open stock to Pre-pack. This responsibility involves careful monitoring and updating of stocks to maintain accurate records.

  • Initiate Cycle Counts: Regularly initiate cycle counts with 3PL's to verify inventory and ensure discrepancies are identified and addressed in a timely manner.

  • Liaison Role: Serve as the key contact between the Sales teams and 3PL for regular status updates. This involves communicating regularly and clearly to keep all parties informed of inventory and shipping status.

  • Inventory Reconciliation: Conduct monthly reconciliation of inventory with storage invoices. Thoroughly review and cross-check inventory records with invoices to ensure consistency and accuracy.

  • On-hand Inventory Comparison: Regularly compare the on-hand inventory from 3PL’s with BC’s and reconcile discrepancies, maintaining a robust workflow to identify and rectify any inconsistencies promptly and accurately.

  • Open Pick Ticket Review: Oversee and review the open pick ticket report daily. Act as a point of contact, communicating with 3PL CSR’s regularly regarding shipment status.

  • Cost Control Management: Handle and oversee controls related to inventory cost changes. Strategize and execute plans to regulate cost changes, thereby promoting operational efficiency.

  • Cross-departmental Collaboration: Work closely and effectively with various departments, including Sales, Finance, and Operations, to maintain accurate inventory adjustments and costing.

  • Reporting: Regularly keep management up-to-date on inventory adjustments, shortages, and transfer data. This includes weekly/monthly inventory reports, recommendations for process improvements, and the resolution of any discrepancies noted.

  • Record Keeping: Maintain and organize detailed records of stock adjustments, transfers, cycle counts, and other inventory-related activities. Ensure these records are accessible, well-organized, and up-to-date for potential auditing purposes.

  • Process Improvement: Regularly evaluate and refine inventory management processes, identify areas of potential improvement, propose effective solutions, and ensure that changes are successfully implemented.

    Requirements

  • Proven experience working cross-functionally with sales, operations, and 3PL departments.

  • Excellent communication skills, enabling the articulation of complex information to both technical and non-technical users.

  • Highly organized and efficient.

  • Robust problem-solving skills with the ability to identify both problems and opportunities for improvement.

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel and Blue Cherry software

  • Ability to handle conflict resolution and assert organizational influence.

  • Experience in inventory cost accounting.

  • Experience in physical inventory management.
