The anticipated salary range for this role is between $100,000.00 and $110,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Description

Analyst position in Latin America Project Finance. SMBC Project Finance team is constantly top ranked in the industry league tables. This is a client facing job, therefore strong communication and interpersonal skills are required. Analysts in SMBC Latin America Project Finance work with all the sectors: Power & Renewables, Natural Resources, and Infrastructure & Telecommunication.

Role Objectives

Responsibilities:

Provide support to the senior colleagues in preparing financial models, credit applications, and pitch materials. Lead monitoring and reviews of loans in our portfolio.

The job responsibilities including;

  • Analyze and build financial models for project finance.

  • Support creating pitch books and other marketing materials.

  • Draft credit applications and lead internal credit approval processes.

  • Lead annual, semi-annual, and quarterly monitoring / reviews of the loans in our portfolio. Lead internal procedure related to waivers and amendments, and other credit events

  • Lead closings and funding administrations in coordination with relevant teams such as middle and back offices.

  • Lead KYC for new customers and existing customers.

  • Research and analyze the relevant industry and regions and keep up with industry trends.

  • Create other internal reporting.

  • Occasional work during weekends.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new processes and systems.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to process large amounts of information, analyze risk and identify mitigating factors fairly quickly.

  • Demonstrates intellectual curiosity and an interest in continuous learning. Self-driven and motivated. Takes ownership of specific assignments.

  • Highly collaborative and flexible in a team and client environment. Ability to form good relationships internally and externally. Able to coordinate and communicate with various internal departments across the bank including middle and back offices and other global offices. Works well in a culturally diverse and team-oriented environment.

  • Ability to organize thoughts and provide summaries and explanations of transactions, verbally or in writing to management or other internal departments.

  • Demonstrates a high degree of attention to details. Ability to complete work accurately and quickly.

Language Skills:

  • Business fluency: English.

  • Native: Spanish language skills are required for this role

  • Portuguese is a plus

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business or Accounting or equivalent education are preferred

  • Master's degree is a plus

  • Formal credit, project finance, modeling trainings are preferred.

  • Software Systems / Programming Languages

  • MS Office Suite - Excel, PowerPoint, Word; Bloomberg
