Maintenance Plumber-Mount Sinai Morningside

Inspects, maintains and repairs existing iped systems in the Hospital

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Inspects, services, replaces and repairs piped steam, water, drain, pneumatic lines, all piping systems including associated equipment, e.g. plumbing fixtures, flushometers, drains, traps, radiators, valves, etc. as well as autoclaves, sterilizers and distilled water units

• Demonstrates proficiency in the use of power and hand tools normally required to test, bend, weld, braze, caulk, solder, cut, thread and/or join pipe or tubing

• Ability to correctly interpret Engineering drawings

• Lays out tools and materials for jobs; cuts or drills openings in floors, walls, partitions and/or ceilings, as necessary

• Cleans up work area daily

• When a partial shutdown of a system has been scheduled, or required in an emergency, shall effect repairs in a timely workmanlike manner to minimize the duration the systems is out of service

• Prioritizes patient care areas in all job schedules

• Accounts for time and materials used on all assigned jobs; records proper information on work order ticket

• Participates in all fire brigade activities occurring during his shift and carries out the duties for Maintenance Plumbers outlined in the Fire/Safety Manual

QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

• Two years satisfactory related experience. A qualifying practical/oral test may be required. Must be able to read, write and speak the English language fluently.

• Fire Dept. Burning Permit, Fire Dept. Sprinkler/Standby Certificate.

Must be able to climb catwalks and ladders and be able to lift minimum of 50 pounds
