Position Summary

Primary responsibility is to generate, implement, and support business development and marketing activities for the following transactional practices that are targeting Latin America -- Capital Markets, Debt Finance and M&A. This role will also support strategic initiatives for the Latin America group. This individual will supervise the work of the Latin America specialist and will report to the Associate Director of Business Development for Latin America.

Duties and Accountabilities

Strategy and Business Planning

  • Support strategic initiatives of the Latin America group including thought leadership and other marketing campaigns, major BD trips, support for the group's key clients and strengthening relationships with local counsel.

Business Development

  • Provide business development and marketing support to partners in the relevant Latin America practices
  • Provide concrete, actionable ideas and robust advice and opinions to the team regarding business development efforts
  • Identify new business opportunities and work with the relevant partners and associates to convert these opportunities into new business for the Firm
  • Working with his or her BD colleagues to help drive the implementation of client plans, business plans and to identify and pursue cross-selling opportunities
  • Taking a lead role in the regular adoption of InterAction and act as a high-level ambassador for the system and its benefits to business development
  • Coordinate the collecting of competitor intelligence to ensure proper differentiation and positioning of White & Case
  • Coordinate conferences and major client events

Materials, Pitches and Proposals

  • Manage and draft responses to Requests for Proposals and preparing presentations to clients in a timely manner and to an appropriately high standard. Maintain up-to-date materials about each practice's capabilities and experience, on a regional and country-by-country basis, including lawyers' biographies, deal lists, brochures and capability statements
  • Management of, and strategic input into, key pitches and proposals of the group.
  • Prepare and submit directory and award submissions related to the Latin America transactional practices.
  • Ensure regular logging in of all pitches, proposals and business opportunities in InterAction, including pitch win/loss ratio and reasons for success/failure.
  • Track and assist in coordinating in-country visits, and following up on reports re same.

Marketing Communications

  • Working with the Firm's Communications team to proactively suggest ideas to improve the profile and positioning of the Latin America practices both internally and externally
  • Work with the group to identify the key sales messages for dissemination via appropriate media outlets locally, as well as promoting the capability and expertise of the group both internally across the network and externally
  • Drafting submissions for legal directories and award entries (Chambers and Partners, IFLR 1000, Latin Lawyer, LatinFinance, The Legal 500 and others), coaching lawyers for directory interviews, providing feedback and reporting on rankings
  • Oversee and coordinate the collection and submission of information to internal reports and databases, as well as submissions to the league table providers
  • Support other marketing initiatives including client alerts, social media, sponsorships
  • Develop and maintain mailing lists for the Latin America practice

Qualifications

    • College degree
    • Six years or more in a global professional services organization preferably within the BD and Marketing area
    • Strong research and writing skills
    • Ability to work with partners and influence them
    • Highly skilled with Word, PowerPoint, Excel and excellent editing skills.
    • The Business Development Manager must be a creative, extremely organized, hardworking individual able to work independently without direct supervision as well as a team player with an understanding of law firms and the Latin American legal sector
    • The Business Development Manager must possess the ability to work in a fast- paced environment, meet frequent deadlines, interact with all levels of lawyers and staff and be a self-starter.

    Location & Reporting

    • This is a hybrid in-office/remote role which can be based in our New York or Miami office.
    • This role reports to the Associate Director Business Development - Latin America.
