JOB DESCRIPTION

The Big Ten Network is looking for a Manager to join the Research Department! We're looking for someone who is passionate about the Big Ten, has an eye for stats, and a knack for storytelling with numbers.

Our mission is to provide notable statistics and storylines to television, live events, and digital crews throughout the Big Ten Network, Big Ten Conference, and FOX Sports. Your work will be seen on several linear and social media platforms as you provide context and historical perspective for a wide range of observers.

You will cover all televised sports, ranging from football and basketball to volleyball and wrestling. There is a growing account of resources available to inform co-workers and viewers of more than 500 live events per academic year. A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in overseeing research department, including planning, scheduling, and setting long-term vision and goals for department
  • Produce informative and accurate background information focusing on relevant statistics and trends to support live events, studio shows, digital team, and original programming group
  • Provide note packets for over a dozen sports using sports knowledge and advanced metrics
  • Create and fact-check original full-screen graphics for live studio shows including but not limited to B1G Today, B1G Show plus pregame and postgame shows using research you've done
  • Collaborate with producers and talent in creating story ideas, from unearthing rare facts to potential milestones as well as coaching changes and injury news
  • Provide real-time updates for talent and production staff as studio shows and live events are airing
  • Post most relevant news and storylines from live games in research slack channel to alert multiple departments throughout the network
  • React quickly to breaking news using research tools to create social media and on-air content
  • Liaise with other departments including sales, marketing, and design teams

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • 5+ years of related experience in sports, statistics, or research
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment under time deadlines
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively with deep knowledge of the Big Ten, including iconic games, athletes, and coaches
  • Exceptional writing, listening, and interpersonal communication skills and adept at communicating across multiple departments in a hybrid environment

NICE TO HAVE BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, broadcasting, or a related field
  • Managerial experience

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is: $75,000.00-94,000.00 annually for California, Washington, New York City, Washington, D.C. and Westchester County, NY. $62,500.00-78,300.00 annually for Colorado. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
