Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to join our team. This role requires a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care and performing various clinical, technical, administrative, and service tasks. The position is a full-time role, Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM.
Responsibilities
Ensure delivery of patient care aligns with the philosophy of the medical group.
Perform lab testing, PFT, and audiometry as ordered by the physician.
Admit patients to exam rooms, take vital signs, medical history, medication history, and allergy history, and measure height and weight as indicated.
Perform quality control and adhere to laboratory procedures required by CLIA regulations.
Complete and forward patient referrals appropriately.
Document treatments, telephone contacts with patients, lab accession logs, and outside medical testing logs as per established procedures.
Complete daily checks, such as oxygen and emergency box, as assigned.
Adhere to universal precautions and OSHA regulations.
Maintain examination rooms and medical areas in a clean and orderly fashion, and stock examination rooms with supplies.
Check supplies from vendors against packing slips and put supplies away as assigned.
Maintain professionalism at all times.
Greet patients and visitors promptly and courteously, register and transact patients using the current computer system, and update pertinent patient information, including medical insurance coverage and eligibility.
Ensure all patients’ names appear on daily ledger sheets and schedule patient appointments.
Retrieve and file medical reports/lab results.
Maintain the patient waiting room and front desk area.
Process HMO referrals as requested by physicians, practice management, and patients.
Communicate patient emergencies to physicians.
Answer telephones, take messages, and ensure follow-up on all calls.
File and maintain file units.
Balance ledger sheets and account for all monies received, and manage the cash box.
Provide instructions to patients upon discharge as per physician's instructions and sign the superbill as per discharge procedure.
Notify patients of test results via telephone following review and instruction by the physician.
Essential Skills
Certification as a Medical Assistant or one year of relevant work experience.
Excellent phone manners, flexibility, and knowledge of computer data entry.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to handle diversified responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
High school diploma or general education diploma (GED).
Knowledge of medical terminology and electronic medical records.
Experience with Epic, crisis management, laboratory procedures, and telephone etiquette.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
BLS Certification.
Two years of relevant work experience preferred.
Phlebotomy experience is a plus.
Work Environment
This position is available in multiple locations, including New York, NY, and Brooklyn, NY. The role requires flexibility with weekend shifts and varying hours depending on the location.
