Paramount Multimedia Journalist in New York, New York

Multimedia Journalist, The Daily Report with John Dickerson

CBS News is looking for a dynamic, innovative, and proactive multimedia journalist to enterprise

original journalism for CBS News 24/7s flagship evening news program, The Daily Report with

John Dickerson. The candidate will be assigned on a daily basis to dig into timely news stories

with a focus on answering key questions that will help viewers better understand both the urgent

stories of the day and the important stories of the moment, sharing their reporting each night in

a live, in-studio format while amplifying their work with written articles and social video.

The top candidate will be a well-read journalist who is self-sufficient, possesses strong editorial

judgment, exceptional on-camera and writing skills, and the ability to pivot based on daily news

events while managing both short and longer-term assignments. Because this position is part of

an around-the-clock news operation, the candidate must be able to work a flexible schedule that

includes late nights and weekends and the ability to come into the newsroom or travel on short

notice.

Responsibilities:

  • Enterprise reporting on a daily basis for an evening news program and associated web

and social media platforms

  • Develop, pitch and execute high-impact story ideas that can be turned in a single day

  • Research and quickly develop an understanding of complicated stories on deadline

  • Shoot in-person and Zoom interviews and pieces-to-camera

  • Edit sound bites, video and short pieces related to their original journalism

  • Contribute to writing and reporting on other platforms as needed

  • Present coverage on camera in the studio and, on occasion, in the field, with crisp,

conversational copy that engages viewers

  • Collaborate with show producers to develop graphics, touch screens, and all other

editorial and production elements

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years reporting experience in a professional news environment

  • Proven track record of shooting, writing and editing visually-compelling stories while

ensuring accuracy, style, structure, and grammar

  • Strong editorial judgment with comprehensive knowledge of national and international

news

  • Must be organized, self-sufficient and an excellent communicator

  • Must thrive in fast-paced and time-critical situations

  • Bachelors degree in journalism or a related field

  • Must be able to work in our New York City newsroom on a daily basis

  • Knowledge of ENPS is helpful

Compensation range: $93,600-$114,000

This position is based in New York City and is not eligible for remote or hybrid work.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Hiring Salary Range: $93,000.00 - 114,000.00.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
