Overview

Manage day-to-day operations of the audio/visual screening, classroom, and film study center services for the Department of Cinema Studies. Develop budgets and monitor and approve expenditures to stay within budget. Develop and implement operational policies and practices to ensure that classes run smoothly and successfully and that the safety and security of faculty, students, facilities, and equipment is realized. Manage computer hardware and software for office staff, classrooms, film study center and faculty: troubleshoot and solve IT related problems. Serve as department representative to Tisch and NYU IT. Research new technologies and make recommendations for current and future classroom needs. Develop and implement policy and procedures for use of film study center and classroom facilities. Consult and collaborate with archivist and MIAP tech concerning MIAP lab, digital storage, database and web activities for the Cinema Studies archive and MIAP Program. Ensure training is consistent with established best practices and School curricular standards and related technologies. Supervise equipment inventory, purchase, research, repair, maintenance and distribution. Act as liaison with other School, University and industry offices; interpret and apply University policies, practices and procedures to address complex administrative matters; Supervise students

Responsibilities

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Education:
Bachelor's Degree in a related field: media studies, production, archiving, computer science.

Required Experience:
3+ years audio visual facility operations management, budget administration and staff supervision experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must include proficiency with a wide range of both analog and digital audio visual equipment. Must be proficient in a wide range of computer operating systems and software.

Preferred Experience:
3+ years Experience in an academic environment. Media projection experience.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication and project management skills. Ability to communicate policies and procedures to individuals at all levels and use problem solving and negotiating skills. Proficiency with a wide range of current and legacy audio visual technologies; ability to assess and repair complex equipment, including 16mm and 35mm film projectors, digital and analog video projectors and decks, and analog and digital audio equipment. Ability to operate, assess and maintain a wide range of computer operating systems, to evaluate, install and troubleshoot and wide range of software. Ability to direct, evaluate and implement a variety of operations and activities.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of current and emerging technologies related to audio visual exhibition and study. Must understand data collection and management.


Qualifications

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $77,500.80 to USD $94,723.20. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
