A successful candidate will show interest in continuously working to remove the impediments that result in engineering & platform stakeholders not being able to immediately understand the patterns/practices and existing asset state in their development environments. This role will also be focused on enabling engineers to more effectively introduce change that maintains our quality goal objectives (#secure, #reliable, #observable, etc.).
What you'll do...Every day brings incremental improvement to the ability for engineering stakeholders to perform their jobs with reduced burden and increased clarity, as-measured-by satisfaction surveys and time-to-production-deployment from start date considerations.
Direct implementation of various tools and source code required with same levels of quality for core platform capabilities, as-measured-by developer feedback and quality controls
Ability to navigate options and constraints to achieve objectives, balancing 'perfect' vs. 'good enough' considerations as-measured-by time to market and operating expensed implications
Works closely with both software engineering stakeholders and platform/devops peers to identity and implement knowledge conduits and automation tools for platform evolution
Identifies gaps in relevant capabilities and undertakes initiatives to resolve in conjunction while bringing peers along the process of selection, implementation, and moving into steady-state operational models
Supports DevSecOps strategy development in conjunction with platform/engineering stakeholders and principals
Evaluation and implementation of new patterns and practices through collaborative investigation and proof-of-concept work
Ongoing support/upkeep of developer experience and associated platform management toolchains to maintain patch/feature currency
Supports ongoing communication to both inform developer community on evolving capabilities and solicit feedback for further enhancements
8+ years in a moderate-to-large sized software delivery organization
Proficient software development with common enterprise languages (Python, Typescript, or Java)
Proven experience in development of internal engineering/developer tool chains
5+ years with hands-on software development, with emphasis on integration (APIs) through backend and/or middleware development
Experience with implementation/management of established developer portal capabilities (ex: Backstage, OpsLevel)
Familiarity with software pattern bundling aligned align with architecture component blueprints
Experience working with common change management / defect management tools (ex: Jira, ServiceDesk)
Familiarity with patterns of platform support (monitoring, observability) and fluent in common tool suites

In compliance with New York City's Wage Transparency Law, the annual salary [wage] range for NYC-based applicants is: $185,000 - $195,000. There are a variety of factors that go into determining a salary range, including but not limited to external market benchmark data, geographic location, and years of experience sought/required. Progyny offers a total compensation package comprised of base salary, cash bonus, and equity.
