New York University Project Assistant (Part-Time) in New York, New York

Metro Learning Communities at the Center for Strategic Solutions at the NYU Metropolitan Center for Research on Equity and the Transformation of Schools is seeking a PT Researcher to support Metro Learning Communities in assisting schools with the goal of improving teacher practices and thereby supporting equity and excellence in education for all students.

We are seeking a Part-Time Researcher to support our team in the following ways:

Administer a client database; create marketing strategies; provide administrative support to the department, process invoices, manage communication with stakeholders including New York University and other schools; coordinate and plan seminars.

Principal Responsibilities:

Budgeting/Finances: (50% Time spent)

● Create internal and master budgets for projects

● Generate work orders for budgets

● Process consultant invoices

● Document revenue collection

● Maintain tracking forms for the above

● Event Support

Oversee registration, reproduce handouts (25% of Time spent)

● Provide onsite/online event set up support tech support

● Manage databases

● Provide other support to director as needed

● Communications

Field inquiries from within and outside of the NYU community (15% Time spent)

● Follow up on electronic mail/inquiries with timely follow up

● Marketing regarding events and offerings from MLC

● Publicity

Outreach with NYU and other schools districts and network faculty and personnel (10% Time spent)

● Create publicity materials

● Blog/website support

● Manage social media accounts for the project and assist with content management.

Metro Learning Practices (MLC) is a specialized professional development project of NYU’s Metro Center for Research on Equity and the Transformation of Schools. The project’s core mission is to improve quality of instruction and academic achievement for all students through deep and collaborative teacher learning.

The NYU Metropolitan Center for Research on Equity and the Transformation of Schools is a research and professional learning services center that supports equity-focused, evidence-based innovations in educational research and programming. We operate as a complex collective of multiple sub-units with different areas of specialization.

NYU Metro Center’s work falls into five categories: 1) technical assistance to districts and schools; 2) professional learning to teachers and leaders; 3) applied research and evaluation of district and school programs; 4) scholarly research conducted by NYU Metro Center researchers and NYU faculty affiliates; and 5) youth development programs including college readiness, youth-led advocacy and organizing, and youth participatory action research. NYU Metro Center has a history of experience providing

assistance and mobilizing resources to address a variety of issues related to educational inequity, segregation, disproportionality, discrimination of all kinds, and social injustice.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $28.25-$30.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.

  • Proficient in Microsoft office software, entire Google suite (Google Sheets, Word, Drive, Forms, Gmail), graphic design(Canva), Zoom

  • Highly detail-oriented

  • Experience in finance is desirable

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, fluent in English, professionalism
