Mizuho Americas Services LLC Regulatory Reporting Quality Assurance, Analyst / Associate in New York, New York

Quality Assurance Unit:

The Quality Assurance Unit is responsible for enhancing the integrity of the bank regulatory reporting processes, reporting data quality as well as the overall control environment through performing periodic and on-going assessments of the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of financial regulatory reports submitted to the U.S. bank regulators. The Unit also partners with stakeholders across multiple functions to identify opportunities for process and control enhancements.

Summary:

You will be primarily responsible for testing and validating multiple regulatory reports to ensure that they are prepared in accordance with regulatory reporting instructions, guidance, regulators expectations, and industry best practices and communicating issues and enhancement opportunities to senior management. In addition, this position supports management with centralized issue management program: communicate issues, follow up with issue owners for issue root cause/impact analysis and solutions, validate issue remediations; provide issue status updates, prepare presentation materials for various forums for issue escalations.

You have an expertise in both financial and regulatory reporting pertaining to financial institutions, and experience in managing projects.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Follow managements guidance and operate independently of the day-to-day regulatory report testing and validation processes for the completeness and accuracy of regulatory reports, in accordance with regulatory reporting instructions, guidance, expectations, and industry best practices; Testing procedures include risk ranking, data analysis/ profiling, transaction testing, control testing and conformance review.

  • Support management with centralized issue management program: communicate issues, follow up with issue owners for issue root cause/impact analysis and solutions, assignment of action owners, validate issue remediations; provide issue status updates, prepare presentation materials for various forums for issue escalation.

  • Interact with various business areas for potential enhancements to the regulatory reporting process.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of financial and regulatory reporting requirements and offer recommendations to enhance controls and processes to ensure accuracy and completeness of Mizuhos regulatory filings.

  • Solve other relevant issues that may arise on an ad-hoc basis and participate in other departmental projects as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor' s degree

  • CPA preferred

  • 4 or more years of relevant experience at a large and complex financial institution in performing financial and/or regulatory reporting, regulatory reporting quality assurance, or internal audit

  • Knowledge of a wide range of financial and banking products

  • Knowledge of financial accounting including relevant US GAAP for the financial services industry

  • Excellent analytical and verbal/written communication skills

  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Power BI and Alteryx

  • Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new concepts quickly

  • Detail oriented, good workpaper documentation

The expected base salary ranges from $85, 000 - $90, 000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
