JPMorgan Chase Risk Management - Emerging Risks - Vice President in New York, New York

MRGR is a global team of modeling experts within the firm's Risk Management and Compliance organization. The team is responsible for conducting independent model validation and model governance activities to help identify, measure, and mitigate Model Risk in the firm. The objective is to ensure that models are fit for purpose, used appropriately within the business context for which have been approved, and that model users are aware of the model limitations and how they could impact business decisions.

As a Risk Management - Emerging Risk - Vice President, you will cover the model risk management framework for all model classes across the firm. While our framework and processes are mature and tested by time, new risks emerge in the industry, especially in the fast-evolving Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) space. As a Vice President in the Emerging Risks, Practice and Assessment team, you will be engaged in the implementation of new governance and risk frameworks, both firmwide and internally within MRGR (Model Risk Governance & Review), in support of the firm's expansion into AI/ML models. This role will have a primary focus on regulatory interactions and internal communications and regarding MRGR's involvement in the firm's expansion into AI/ML, including Generative AI (GenAI), including global engagements.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and prepare communications for regulators and senior management and about the emerging risks posed by the use of AI/ML models, and the respective mitigation strategies

  • Partner across lines of business and functions within JPMorgan Chase, including the Chief Data and Analytics Office (CDAO), Compliance, Conduct and Operational Risk (CCOR), and global exam management teams to deliver fulsome and consistent responses to regulatory inquiries, escalating issues that arise during the course of these engagements promptly and effectively

  • Partner with MRGR's COO team to deliver clear, comprehensive materials on AI/ML models and tools for senior management reporting

  • Lead the preparation of training materials to be used in sessions focused on changes to the model risk framework to diverse audiences, including internal training for MRGR coverage, as well as to model developers and users, and materials for use in firmwide model risk policy training

  • Engage in discussions around model risk framework changes related to AI/ML and proactively propose the appropriate medium and audience for communicating these changes

  • Provide concise and effective reporting to senior stakeholders highlighting activity on, and focus areas of, regulatory engagements

Required Qualifications, Skills & Capabilities

  • 7+ years of relevant experience, including experience in risk management, technology, model development or model risk roles

  • Experience working with regulators and senior stakeholders including knowledge of regulators' processes and regulatory guidance, such as SR11-7

  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with the ability to interface with other functional areas in the firm. Ability to translate technical considerations into business risks, and communicate effectively in an interdisciplinary environment

  • Risk and control mindset: ability to ask incisive questions, identify and assess risks

  • Exceptional organization skills and understanding of corporate governance: ability to influence at scale, resolve uncertainty, and deliver results in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment

  • Ability to perform under pressure and to manage competing priorities under tight deadlines

  • Attention to detail and commitment to doing quality work in a comprehensive manner

  • Strong Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel skills
