Job Description

Insight Global is seeking out an experienced Android Developer to sit fully remote for a large streaming service. This person will be designing and implementing robust, scalable, and maintainable Android applications for both mobile and TV platforms, ensuring best practices and industry standards. As a senior Android Developer, this person will be utilizing Kotlin and Jetpack Compose to develop modern, efficient, and user-friendly streaming applications, and applying MVVM architecture principles to create a clear separation of concerns and facilitate testable code. Design patterns expertise is crucial, as this person should have the ability to identify and apply appropriate design patterns to solve complex software design problems. Some day to day responsibilities include working cross functionally with product managers, designers, and backend developers to deliver high quality streaming applications, and conducting code reviews/providing mentorship to junior developers. One of the main goals of the team is to optimize application performance for speed and scalability, and building an overall good foundation on their platform.

Pay rate: 60-70/hr

Skills and Requirements

5-7 years of experience as an android developer, with extensive experience in Android architecture design.

o Must possess a proven track record of developing high quality, scalable Android applications for mobile and TV platforms

o Strong knowledge of Android SDK, different versions of Android, and how to deal with different screen sizes, including TV screens.

 Deep understanding of the MVVM architecture and it's implementation

 Ability to Identify/apply certain design patterns to solve complex software design problems.

o (Design patterns like Singleton, Factory, Observer, and Dependency Injection).

 Experience using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose to develop efficient and user friendly streaming applications.

 Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross functionally Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience.

 Experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.

 Familiarity with agile methodologies and tools such as JIRA.

 Knowledge of cloud services and infrastructure

 Familiarity with RESTful APIs to connect Android applications to backend services. null
