Your Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Associate, Senior Structural Engineer to lead engineering teams on large projects. An opportunity is presented for a highly motivated Structural Engineer to establish a leading role on the project design team. You will be responsible for preparing designs and ensuring the development and delivery of successful structural projects such as bridges, highway interchanges, roadway reconstruction, subway stations, railroad infrastructure and public spaces.

As a Senior Associate, you will be responsible leading a team of structural engineers in multidisciplinary projects, including managing the scope and integration of subcontractors and employees. You will assist Senior Professionals in the management of major projects including scheduling, costs and design methodology to ensure successful results. The role will also provide an opportunity to help grow the bridge practice in the New York region through the development of practice improvement initiatives. Additionally, you will support business development, and the delivery of proposals led by Senior Professionals, including preparation of technical narratives and cost estimates.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance in resolving complex problems and decision making.

  • Lead major project pursuits and/projects in deputy/key personnel roles and provide oversight for multiple bridge squads in project delivery.

  • Manage multi-discipline projects completely, including the managing of client relationships, coordination of deliverables, submittals, meetings, review comments, etc.

  • Mentor and monitor work by other structural engineers. Perform quality control and quality assurance checks on deliverables.

  • Make independent decisions on work methods and procedures within the Transportation practice/structural specialization.

  • Provide input into Transportation practice improvement initiatives including state-of-the-art tools and standards.

  • Responsible for the review and sealing of projects as well as supporting the regional bridge leadership.

  • Work actively with Senior Professionals to support and grow the bridge practice in the New York region.

  • Assist with invoicing, managing, and monitoring financial performance of project budgets using PM dashboard access.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Licensed or ability to obtain the Professional Engineer license in the States of NY and NJ.

  • Expert level knowledge of technical directives, programs, standards, and administrative procedures.

  • Proficient in relevant bridge and structural design/analysis software.

  • Possesses broad technical knowledge within the transportation practice, structure engineering sciences. Technical expert in all relevant areas of design with understanding of various design methodologies.

  • Expert level understanding of codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or Equivalent, Graduate Degree highly desired.

  • Minimum 20 years of experience in the structural design of bridges and transportation structures.

Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s):

Salary Range(s):

  • $152,700 - $229,100 Min/Max Pay Range(s) for postings located in NYC/NY

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
