Description/Job Summary

STB is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Architect with expertise in SQL Server, Azure Technologies, Databricks, and Python to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of database design principles, SQL Server administration, Azure cloud services, Databricks, and Python programming. Additionally, familiarity with Medallion Data Architecture and Star Schemas is essential for this role. The Data Architect will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and optimizing our data delivery systems to ensure performance, reliability, and scalability.

Responsibilities/Duties

• Work closely with Database Administration Teams to ensure databases are properly designed, developed, and operationally sound.

• Architect database solutions on Azure cloud platform, leveraging services such as Azure SQL Database, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure Data Lake, and Azure Databricks.

• Collaborate with software developers, system architects, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and propose effective solutions.

• Work with operational teams to optimize database performance through indexing, query optimization, and other tuning techniques.

• Collaborate with Information Governance to define and employ database security measures to protect sensitive data, ensure policy compliance, and monitor compliance to those designs.

• Utilize Databricks for data engineering, analytics, and machine learning tasks.

• Develop Python scripts and applications for data manipulation, transformation, and analysis.

• Monitor database infrastructure components to ensure availability, reliability, and performance.

• Design and implement data integration solutions between on-premises systems, Azure cloud services, and Databricks.

• Provide technical guidance and support to junior members of the data team.

• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and best practices in data architecture, cloud computing, Databricks, and Python programming.

Required Skills

• Strong proficiency in Azure cloud technologies, including Azure SQL Database, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, and Azure Databricks.

• Solid understanding of Medallion Data Architecture principles and methodologies.

• Experience with designing and implementing Star Schemas for data warehousing.

• Extensive and in-depth knowledge of SQL Server database best practices, as well as database design, implementation, and optimization.

• Proficiency in T-SQL programming and scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell).

• Experience with Databricks for data engineering, analytics, and machine learning.

• Proficiency in Python programming for data manipulation, transformation, and analysis.

• Familiarity with data modeling tools and techniques.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

• Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect, and Database) are a plus.

Preferred Experience

• Legal IT experience a plus but not required

Required Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience in lieu of formal education.

Salary Information

NY only: The estimated base salary range for this position in NY only is $180k to $210k at the time of posting.

The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. This role is exempt meaning it is not overtime pay eligible.
