One of the largest pillars in our Tax practice is Federal Tax. This team specialize in providing corporate tax provision and compliance services to multinational public and private companies, with an expertise in ASC 740 accounting for income taxes. Due to our tremendous growth, we're seeking a Senior Director to join our team.
What Will You Be Doing?
As a Senior Director within Federal Tax you will:
- Establish long term consultative relationships with public and private multinational, multistate corporate clients by providing your expertise on a variety of technical subjects including complex ASC 740 issues, transactional/M& A matters, tax reform, tax controversy, foreign informational reporting, accounting methods, and consolidated returns
- Lead U.S. tax compliance projects for multinational, public, and private equity portfolio companies
- Build relationships with clients by understanding their business, their unique circumstances, offering proactive support, and timely execution
- Manage risk, staffing and financial performance for multiple engagements at once including billing, collections, profitability and project budgets
- Provide supportive leadership by providing development and career guidance through mentoring and performance feedback to your team. You will drive your team to stay up to date in tax law changes and apply the most current and innovative tax practices in order to create and sustain a respected reputation in the market
- Build relationships across Tax and the rest of A& M. Develop a deep understanding of the areas of expertise across the firm in order to present clients with opportunities for additional support
- Champions diversity, equity and inclusion across all aspects of the practice
- Build, manage, direct and monitor multiple client engagements teams while maintaining active communication with clients in an effort to manage expectations and help ensure client satisfaction
- Build consultative relationships with clients by understanding their business, their unique circumstances, offering proactive support, and timely execution of projects
- Actively pursue business development opportunities and prioritize where and how to source new relationships
- Regularly meet with contacts to discuss broad business issues and provide insight regarding how Tax and A& M can help address their critical business issues

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- 8 years' experience with accounting for income taxes (ASC 740) and corporate tax compliance with demonstrated ability to resolve complex technical issues
- 4 years' experience managing teams and engagements
- CPA or Licensed Attorney
- Passion for mentoring, coaching and developing teams
- Proven experience working as trusted advisor to clients with a demonstrated ability to help clients understand and interpret analysis, deliverables and recommendations
- Prior proven experience leading others while managing risk, staffing and financial performance for multiple engagements at once including billing, collections and project budgets
- Excellent verbal and written skills, with the ability to establish credibility and influence clients
- Advanced user of all Microsoft Office products (with an emphasis on Excel)
- Experience with OneSource Income Tax and OneSource Tax Provision preferred
- Self-motivated with a high degree of intellectual curiosity. Strong desire to learn and grow Actively identifies trends and new ideas for enhancing solutions and approaches, particularly with technology
- Demonstrated ability to run large complex engagements while overseeing multiple teams and ensuring excellence

Provided the eligibility requirements are met, employees will also receive a discretionary contribution to their 401(k) from Alvarez & Marsal. Additionally, employees are eligible for paid time off including vacation, personal days, seventy-two (72) hours of sick time (prorated for part time employees), ten federal holidays, one floating holiday, and parental leave. The salary range is $175, 000 - $225, 000 annually, dependent on several variables including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography. In addition, A& M offers a discretionary bonus program which is based on a number of factors, including individual and firm performance. Please ask your recruiter for details.
