Google Senior Software Engineering Manager, AI/ML, Data Commons in New York, New York

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).

  • 7 years of experience leading technical project strategy, Machine Learning (ML) design, and optimizing industry-scale ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, data processing, debugging, fine tuning).

  • 5 years of experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP) concepts and algorithms.

  • 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing projects, with 5 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role

  • Experience in designing NLP solutions.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.

  • Experience in contributing to or managing large-scale open-source projects, ensuring quality code contributions and active community engagement.

  • Experience in open data standards such as schema, JSON-LD, or other linked data formats, and contributing to open data initiatives.

  • Experience in machine learning techniques and NLP technologies to derive insights from large datasets.

  • Experience in creating, managing, and querying knowledge graphs using technologies such as RDF, SPARQL, or OWL.

  • Understanding of data integration practices including mapping, cleaning, and transforming datasets from various sources into cohesive and usable formats.

With technical and leadership expertise, you manage engineers across multiple teams and locations, a large product budget and oversee the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple sites internationally.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $237,000-$337,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Manage and mentor a globally distributed team of engineers, foster growth through technical guidance, career development, and leadership across different time zones.

  • Drive the execution of complex projects, from initial design to deployment to coding and delivery, ensure the delivery of quality solutions within specified timelines.

  • Partner with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to define product roadmaps, set technical specifications, and ensure alignment with business goals.

  • Advocate engineering including code quality, testing standards, and documentation processes to ensure reliable and scalable platform development.

  • Lead initiatives to innovate and improve the Data Commons platform by identifying opportunities for growth, scalability and process optimization, while managing open-source contributions.
