Citigroup Services Operational Risk Event Program Lead, Director in New York, New York

The role will be part of the Services Controls Regulatory Management team. The ORE lead will work with multiple stakeholders end to end to formulate, manage and drive a tangible book of work which identifies and addresses root causes of operational risk events.

The will drive accountability and ownership of ORE issues and timely capture. They will provide robust review and challenge to ensure our actions are clearly documented, understood, tracked and delivered.

The role holder will front the initiative to the Services Exco and ensure updates on progress have clear narrative, whilst escalating any pain points are decisions required.

Role holder will also partner with 2nd line and central controls functions to ensure alignment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility for leading the operational risk events cycle, which includes the escalation, capture, management, and analysis of operational risk events.

  • Lead business level program to address causes of operational risks that have materialized and to make reasonably sure that similar events do not re-occur.

  • Work with business, operations and technology, and any unit responsible for a control (URC) that lead to an Operational Risk Event to ensure remedial actions are taken, included in thematic programs addressing causes and track progress.

  • Define governance model.

  • Lead operational risk event reduction senior forum and working groups

  • Development of business level procedures that makes sure that Operational Risk Data is captured consistently and timely in the Loss Capture System (LCS).

  • Prepare reports for senior management.

  • Support stakeholders and provide guidance on escalation of operational risk events to make sure that actions can be taken that reduce or avoid the impact of these events, and to inform other stakeholders, in line with Citi Escalation Policy.

  • Provide specialist control advice and guidance for program within the remit.

  • Communication, guidance and training of new requirements.

  • Participate in relevant control forums and steering committees.

  • Identify issues within the business, mitigates, and ensures appropriate approval and visibility of these risks within the organization.

  • Creates Key Risk Indicators, metric triggers and thresholds in order to identify and communicate any emerging issues and develop action plans with the business owners.

  • Build a process to share/communication global best practices.

  • Assure a common understanding of existing risks and analysis of emerging risks across the business.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in financial services.

  • Ability to manage through influence to drive implementation across a global organization (e.g. management in the absence of reporting lines).

  • Knowledge of business-related products and/or processes, specially related to Operational Risk Events, Loss Capture System Reporting and policy requirements.

  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills required.

  • Track record leading Control related projects and programs.

Education

  • Bachelor's/University degree, Master's degree preferred.

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:

$200,000.00 - $300,000.00
