AWS Marketplace (AWSMP) is a curated digital catalog that customers can use to find, purchase, deploy, and manage third-party software, data, and services required to build solutions and operate their businesses. AWSMP features thousands of software listings spanning popular categories such as security, networking, storage, machine learning, business intelligence, and databases, as well as related professional services to help customers manage and support those solutions. Customers can quickly launch pre-configured software with just a few clicks, with options including Amazon Machine Images (AMIs), software-as-a-service (SaaS), and other formats. Users can engage with AWSMP in the capacity of a buyer (subscriber), a seller (provider), or both. Any individual with an AWS account can utilize AWSMP as a buyer and can also register to become a seller.

We are seeking an experienced Software Development Manager to lead one of our core teams in the AWS Marketplace organization. In this pivotal role, you will drive the development and delivery of innovative features that continue to revolutionize how businesses discover and use software in the cloud.

You will also have the opportunity to influence our overall AWS Marketplace strategy, drive system architecture, and spearhead best practices for your team. As the Software Development Manager, you will build, mentor, and manage a high-performing engineering team to execute on critical Marketplace initiatives. You will establish goals, milestones, and metrics to track team progress, you will interface with other teams to coordinate cross-team initiatives, and you will be responsible for the operational health of your services.

Sales, Marketing and Global Services (SMGS)

AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector. The AWS Global Support team interacts with leading companies and believes that world-class support is critical to customer success. AWS Support also partners with a global list of customers that are building mission-critical applications on top of AWS services.

Key job responsibilities

AWS Marketplace is looking for software dev manager with a passion for solving challenging problems to join the team and help evolve the critical services. You will be a key contributor to the future direction and growth of the services owned. You will work closely with product, user experience designers, and back-end engineers to define, design, and implement our product and customer experience

Lead and mentor a team of software engineers: Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment, providing guidance and support to your engineers to help them achieve their full potential.

Define the technical vision and roadmap: Work closely with product managers and stakeholders to define the technical roadmap for your area of responsibility, ensuring alignment with overall business goals.

Own the software development lifecycle: Oversee the entire software development lifecycle, from requirement gathering and design to development, testing, and deployment.

Champion best practices and innovation: Drive the adoption of best practices and emerging technologies within your team, promoting continuous improvement and innovation.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams: Work effectively with product managers, designers, QA testers, and other stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of features.

Communicate effectively: Clearly communicate technical decisions and progress to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Basic Qualifications

  • 4+ years of engineering team management experience

  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

  • Experience with the scrum methodology

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
