Software Engineer 2 at Dotdash Media, Inc. (New York, NY) Responsible for collaborating with other team members to maintain, design, and implement highly available, scalable, and cost-effective software and services to meet the needs of the distribution team’s charter. Contribute well-architected software solutions to web applications that take full advantage of our existing frameworks and libraries, while incorporating new software technologies and development best practices. This will include the following day-to-day job duties:•Collaborate with other developers, product managers, and designers to develop new software and web application features;•Implement new services, APIs, and operational monitoring functions;•Own production services, investigate and resolve issues, bottlenecks, and inefficiencies;•Create and update thorough and readable living documentation for services;•Develop APIs that allow brand content to be processed, enhanced, and made available to customers through multiple channels;•Collaborate closely with other developers, designers, and product managers to define innovative ways to improve services;•Participate in technical mentorship with engineers on the team by performing code reviews, pairing sessions, and ad hoc reviews of proposed solutions;•Work with other teams across the organization to share and establish best practices;•Demonstrate passion for code quality and lead by example to produce high quality services and applications that meet timeline expectations to deliver value to the business.Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Data Science, a related technical field or foreign equivalent, plus 2 years of experience as a full stack web developer, software engineer, or similar role. Experience must include:•1 year of experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript;•1 year of experience with relevant frameworks (Vue or similar), servers (Node.js + Express or similar), and related build processes (Webpack, Grunt, Gulp or similar);•1 year of experience working with APIs and REST-ful services; and•1 year of experience using the tools of modern collaborative Agile+Scrum SDLC, including Git, Jira, planning poker, etc.Role allows full-time telecommuting.
