What you will be working on:

We are looking for a Solution Architect to join our Enterprise Architecture team. In this role you will be designing and implementing highly scalable real-time systems following best practices and using the cutting-edge technology. This role is best suited for experienced engineers/architects with broad skillset who are open, curious, and willing to learn. This colleague will be responsible for designing and reviewing technical architecture across several of American Express’s top business initiatives.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing E2E technical solutions for prioritized features that span multiple company platforms

  • Reviewing and refreshing technical APIs to ensure they comply with our directional API strategy

  • Creating architectural artifacts (process flows and diagrams) for business initiatives to ensure consistency across products

  • Engaging with both technical and business partners, with a focus on both current and future roadmaps to ensure we’re not solving the same problems multiple times

  • Communicating solution architecture to a wide audience, most importantly, to technical team members who will translate architecture into user stories and deployment plans

  • Demonstrating a solid understanding of business process and technical implementation – knowing how to design ideal architecture, but also how to incrementally deploy to reach that state

  • Being technically hands-on at times (review code, author markdown, deliver POCs)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience

  • 5 years of progressive engineering or solution architecture experience, demonstrating strong architecture, programming, and engineering skills

  • A good balance of business acumen and technical knowledge, with a proven track record of driving innovation through software with a customer-first mindset

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, partner, and collaborate on technical delivery across many engineering teams

  • High degree of organization, individual initiative, and personal accountability

  • Ability to solve complex problems with a highly analytical approach

  • Experience as a hands-on engineer

  • Certifications such as TOGAF, AWS/GCP Cloud Certification

Qualifications

Salary Range: $110,000.00 to $190,000.00 annually bonus benefits
