The Senior Manager of Accounting will play a key role in the general accounting and compliance of NBCUniversal’s Media Group. This role provides an outstanding opportunity to learn about the NBC linear networks, syndication studio, and direct to consumer businesses, as well as Media HQ. The position will report to the VP, Controller and will work closely with finance leadership across the Media Group as well as Controllership across NBCU’s portfolio.
This position will support the monthly close and the overall accounting processes to ensure accurate and timely reporting. The role will support the (i) standardization of existing processes with the rest of NBCU’s Controllership group, (ii) identification of business process efficiencies, and (iii) implementation of best practices. This position is expected to challenge the status quo and think of more enhanced approaches and methodologies to support Media’s overall close and control structure.
Operational:
Review monthly journal and account reconciliations accurately and timely.
Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations for the General Ledger, including SAP maintenance and support for finance.
Manage reconciliation system i.e. providing access, assigning reconciliations, grouping accounts for efficiency, training 3rd party service provider on reconciliations, review reports for acknowledgement of required adjustments on both debit and credit accounts and closing of prior month required adjustments.
Ensure controls over journal entries and reconciliations are being performed timely; support and design training on a periodic basis.
Prepare and assist with reporting Balance Sheet variance analysis and quarterly review with Entertainment’s CFO and SVP of Finance.
Timely preparation of quarterly data requests for Corporate Controllership to support internal and external reporting requirements.
Assisting with tracking and review of accounting issues.
Process documentation for new and existing processes and contribution of new ideas for efficiencies.
Assist in leading projects and other initiatives to improve the control environment, accounting process consistency and efficiency.
Perform ad hoc reporting and special projects as requested.
People:
Develop and maintain positive and productive working relationships with the business finance teams.
Be nimble in working with various departments across portfolio.
Enthusiastic and ambitious personality in sharing ideas and ability to contribute to producing high quality results and being actively involved in process improvement.
Oversee Senior accountant.
Basic Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
Knowledge of U.S. GAAP
7+ years of accounting experience; 2+ years of public accounting experience strongly preferred
CPA License strongly preferred
Desired Characteristics:
Masters Degree in Accounting preferred

Working knowledge of general ledger systems preferred (e.g. SAP, AOE, Blackline)

Advanced Excel (pivot, v-/x-lookups, Power Query), Word, and PowerPoint skills required
Self-starter, ability to work independently and collaborate in a team environment

This position has been designated as a hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week. Salary range: $100,000 - $135,000 (bonus eligible).
