Bath & Body Works is looking for a Senior Toxicologist to join our team! This role is accountable for leading all aspects of safety science within assigned product categories and/or brands. The Toxicologist will be responsible for the overall safety assessments from raw material to finished product following a brand-centric model. The associate will be the key subject matter authority for the assigned areas of toxicology as well as having thorough knowledge of global safety requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for delivering up-to-date safety assessments for raw materials, finished product, and packaging for the product categories assigned, and conducting final review and sign-off of safety reports

  • Responsible for staying current on new trends in human health and environmental risk assessment, innovative approach methodologies (NAMs), green chemistry initiatives, and developing strategy to implement innovative approaches into internal work processes

  • Collaborate with key cross-functional partners including Product Development, ESG, Fragrance Development, Commercialization, Regulatory, and Clinical to provide safety-related support

  • Communicate scientific content and recommendations on various safety issues to technical and non-technical audiences across the organization

  • Optimize work processes to drive greater efficiency and alignment with cross functional partners

  • Lead safety related activities with external partners such as consultants, analytical labs, and CROs to drive solutions for issues related to raw materials and formulations

  • Participate on industry trade association scientific committees and task forces to ensure BBW has most current information/intelligence related to emerging product safety and regulatory issues.

  • Train and mentor junior team members in the science of toxicology and other related technical skills, such as toxicological analysis, study design, innovative approaches

Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of validated experience in personal care, consumer product, or related industry and is used to a fast-paced working environment

  • Excellent knowledge in human health and environmental risk assessment methodology, interpretation of human health toxicology and ecotoxicology studies, global regulations and safety requirements, and ingredient safety positions

  • Expertise in animal alternative approaches (in silico, in vitro, and NAMs)

  • Knowledge and experience in applying CLP regulations to ingredients and mixtures

  • DABT and/or ERT certification preferred

  • Strong project management skills and ability to work independently

  • Ability to establish internal and external collaborative relationships

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Attention to detail and accuracy of work

  • This position will be based in New York, NY or Columbus, OH

Education

  • A Ph.D. in Toxicology, Pharmacology, Environmental Toxicology, or related majors
