Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Summer Intern, Design & Construction Management in New York, New York

About the Internship

Major Capital Projects (MCP) has overall responsibility for the design and construction delivery of the new Midtown Bus Terminal, the construction management of the core and shell of the new Hudson Tunnels for the Gateway Development Commission, planning for the Cross Harbor Freight Program (CHFP), and other projects assigned to it.

Responsibilities

  • Develop tasks associated with professional services agreements

  • Review contract documents and perform quality control review

  • Prepare necessary diagrams to identify problems and provide solutions

  • Prepare presentations

  • Review and track budgets, prepare cost estimates for associated field work.

  • Answer Requests for Information from contractors.

  • Participate in pre-construction and construction job meetings

  • Attend construction inspection walk-thrus and develop punch lists.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Enrollment in a college/university through Summer 2025 and into the Fall 2025 semester

  • Rising junior or senior

  • Major in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management

Desired Qualifications

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, SharePoint and Teams

  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Adobe, Blue Beam, and GIS

  • Problem-solving

  • Critical thinking

Internship Details

  • The start date will be Thursday, May 29, 2025

  • The internship will last approximately 12 weeks, ending on Friday, August 22, 2025

  • This is a full-time internship (5 days per week at 7.25 hours per day)

  • The format is expected to be hybrid

Compensation & Benefits

  • The hourly rate range is $17.63 to $29.57 (the exact rate will be determined by internship type and rising school year)
