About the Internship

The Tunnels, Bridges & Terminals Department (TB&T) connects the roadway networks of New York and New Jersey through tunnels, bridges, and interstate bus terminals that permit people and goods to move safely, efficiently, and conveniently while generating net income for the Port Authority’s ongoing operations and investment needs. You will work with Project Managers as they oversee projects to improve or maintain our valuable Facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with team members on specific projects with the potential to be involved in a wide range of project-related work including presentation graphics and review of construction documents.

  • Assist Project Managers in preparing authorization documents and presentations, preparing/updating project schedules and budgets, preparing progress meeting agendas and notes, organizing site visits and investigating/resolving field issues.

  • Assist Unit Managers in the consolidation of various reporting documents.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Enrollment at a college/university through Summer 2025 and into the Fall 2025 semester

  • Interest in Engineering, Construction, Infrastructure Project Management, Architecture, or a related field

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft apps such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.

  • Interest in public service contributing to the success of the New York and New Jersey regional transportation network

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Project Management experience – in a professional, volunteer, or personal capacity

  • Interest in public service contributing to the success of the New York and New Jersey regional transportation network

  • Willingness to learn

Internship Details

  • The start date will be Thursday, May 29, 2025

  • The internship will last approximately 12 weeks, ending on Friday, August 22, 2025

  • This is a full-time internship (5 days per week at 7.25 hours per day)

  • The format is expected to be in-person

Compensation & Benefits

  • The hourly rate range is $17.63 to $29.57 (the exact rate will be determined by internship type and rising school year)
