Job Description Summary

The Sustainability Operations Manager is responsible for recommending best practices and implementing client's sustainability objectives. This person will work to ensure that client has the best information and recommendations with which to make sustainability management decisions. You will build management tools, templates and processes to streamline reporting, and you will develop innovative ways to improve the visual communication of sustainability data to key stakeholders. You will develop and implement the client's waste program to improve the portfolio's diversion rate. You will help take energy saving projects from ideation to implementation, requiring coordination across facilities management, project management, and sourcing.

Job Description

  • Provide input and recommendations to build a NetZero Roadmap for a variety of building types including offices, data centers, and retail locations
  • Track, analyze and report on global sustainability metrics, including energy, greenhouse gas (GHG), water, and waste. Report internally and externally on initiatives and metrics, including monthly and quarterly sustainability performance reports, CDP, and other reporting as needed.
  • Develop and implement waste sustainability measures across the portfolio including ideation, implementation, coordination between vendors and staff, and communication plans.
  • Manage waste vendor partners and ensure service levels, correct metrics and reporting, and implementation of waste program
  • Increase the portfolio diversion rate through targeted improvements to low performing facilities. Utilize data to inform waste optimization strategies
  • Develop and implement energy saving projects. This includes ideation, vendor coordination, presenting to the client, and managing national energy saving projects.
  • Provision of relevant data for members of the account team to support benchmarking.
  • Ongoing technical and administrative support for the sustainability reporting platform covering environmental and social data).
  • Manage Client's TRUE Zero, LEED, WELL and Fitwell for Existing Buildings program and annual recertification of facilities; work to achieve new certifications at facilities where possible.
  • Develop, maintain and implement a rolling multi-year plan with annual reports for tracking progress towards the organization's sustainability goals and recommend targets.
  • Effective administration and analysis of sustainability data collection and reporting systems, processes, and procedures for our client portfolio (relating, but not limited to energy, emissions, water, waste, and social data), identifying trends and solutions to improve sustainability performance.
  • Coordinate environmental compliance reporting, including SEC, Local Law 97, and other relevant legislation as well as liaison with associated regulatory bodies.
  • Effective coordination of external audits of sustainability data (including the close-out of any audit actions).
  • Successful development and implementation of sustainability management tools for the client account.
  • Continual improvement and streamlining of sustainability reporting systems, processes, procedures, guidance and training.
  • Establishing appropriate data reporting governance across the portfolio to ensure timely reporting of data.
  • Evaluate and analyze sustainability data and trends to provide intelligence to the account team.
  • Provide benchmarking and market intelligence information to the sustainability team to inform strategy.
  • Develop analytical tools that provide enhanced decision-making capability to the business and project teams.
  • Provide support, troubleshooting and development of enhancements to existing tools.

Requirements

Possess

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in subjects such environmental science, energy management, climate change, sustainability or equivalent through experience
  • 5 years of related sustainability and LEED for Existing Buildings project management experience.
  • A general background in real estate, civil or mechanical engineering, building science, project management or allied field.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint, online software platforms, with the ability to use spreadsheets and data analysis applications.

The compensation that will be offered to the successful candidate will depend on factors such as whether the position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, the geographic area in which the work will be performed, market pay rates in that area, and the candidate's experience and qualifications.


The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role.


The compensation for the position is: $106,250.00 - $125,000.00
