Robert Half Tax Accountant in New York, New York

Description

We are in the market for a Tax Accountant/Tax Manager to join our team at an elite NYC family office. This role is based in New York, and you will be working to manage and oversee tax returns, data entry, reconciliation, and other tax-related duties.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and file individual, partnership, and trust tax returns, including K-1s, 1099s, W-2s, and other documents

• Accurately enter tax data into accounting software and ensure timely updates

• Prepare and file IT-204LL submissions

• Reconcile 1099s to trial balances and make adjusting journal entries

• Prepare quarterly tax estimates, vouchers, and track filing status

• E-file tax returns, extensions, and estimates and manage paper-filed returns

• Maintain and assist with basis calculations for exited partnerships

• Update accounting software with new and closed accounts

• Assist with and follow up on tax information requests and notices

• Manage e-file forms and ensure proper scanning and storage

• Order and install 1099 reporting software and prepare January 1099 activity

• Review and check all tax adjusting journal entries and prepare detailed tabs for accounting

• Handle accounting and reporting for specific entities

• File commercial rent tax forms quarterly

• Perform bank reconciliations during slower periods

• Obtain EINs and prepare dissolution forms

• Maintain and review the loan summary schedule annually

• Prepare pay stubs, file NYS-1 Forms, manage SUI forms and payroll returns

• Prepare and file W-2 and W-3 forms

• Order and install payroll tax software

Requirements • Possession of a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems

• Experience with ADP - Financial Services is desirable

• Familiarity with CaseWare, CCH ProSystem Fx, and CCH Sales Tax

• Comprehensive understanding of Accounting Functions and Bookkeeping Functions

• Prior experience in Auditing

• Proven track record in Compliance

• Strong Customer Service skills

• Familiarity with K-1, Trust Tax Returns, Individual Tax Return, and Partnership Tax Returns

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

• Ability to meet strict deadlines and work under pressure.
