Role Overview

Tax Accountant - Analytics and Audit position will assist with gathering data for federal/state audit responses and analytical calculations enabling the team based in New York to deliver on day-to-day activities. This position is an excellent role for an aspiring tax professional who is seeking to learn and grow their skills for future career growth opportunities.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Gather information for document requests from federal and state tax authorities.

  • Prepare federal and state amended tax returns based on the completion of federal audits.

  • Management of the Analytics and Audit calendar of deliverables.

  • Support the Tax Analytics and Audit team in analyzing new legislation, assessing its impact on the company, and ensuring it is properly reflected on the US tax returns.

  • Prepare non income tax reserve calculations including sales and use tax reserves for quarterly meetings.

  • Management of Income tax notices and tracker.

  • Process, report, and reconcile all audit tax payments and refunds.

  • Liaison with third party service providers for AmEx annual report and Personal Property tax filings.

  • Assist with entity tax classification applications.

  • Review and redistribute incoming tax electronic correspondence to appropriate internal parties.

  • Liaise with tax authority representatives regarding information reporting-related notices.

  • Obtain tax return transcripts and reconcile transcripts against tax returns.

  • Attend federal and state audit meetings with external auditors and take notes as required.

  • Assist in ad hoc project support as required across Global Tax.

Key Skills and Attributes Required

  • Entry level

  • CPA or CPA Track

  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrates commitment to quality and accuracy

  • Comfortable proposing new ideas that can create efficiencies

  • Works well in a changing environment and with tight deadlines

  • Team Player who is able to collaborate well and foster working relationships

  • Possess desire to learn new skills

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting/Finance

Qualifications

Salary Range: $55,000.00 to $105,000.00 annually bonus benefits
