The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary
The Department of Anesthesiology of Columbia University Medical Center is seeking a Technician A for a full-time 1-year contract that will be grant-funded.
Responsibilities
- Perform transfection
- Fuorescence microscopy
- Perform cell-based second messenger analysis
- Western blot
- Murine genetics
- Murine husbandry
- Histology
- Microsoft word- scientific writing
- Excel- spread sheet and basic statistics
- Photoshop- image formatting
- Performs related duties & responsibilities as assigned/requested.
Minimum Qualifications
- Two years of college or a completed AA program with an emphasis in chemistry, biology, or physics or a completed animal husbandry program. One year of related experience, or equivalent in education, training and/or experience.
- Must be organized, self-motivated, and competent in scientific writing
- Applicant should have a strong basis in laboratory science and have worked with animal/organs from animals.
Preferred Qualifications
- BA or BS minimum, plus 2 years of full/part-time experience in a scientific laboratory.
- Applicants should have a good background in chemistry or biochemistry.
