Position Summary

Dr. Sally Amundson's laboratory at the Center for Radiological Research at Columbia University is looking for a technician B to collaborate closely with scientists using gene-expression-based approaches to understand the mechanistic basis of radiation response.

Responsibilities

  • Training and performing work with animal models and human tissue
  • Performing real-time PCR and other basic molecular biology techniques and related analysis methods.
  • Developing skill sets in RNAseq and subsequent data analysis.
  • Maintaining and sharing records, completing scientific and technical tasks in a timely fashion, and helping to maintain a smoothly functioning laboratory.
  • Ordering Lab Supplies.

We are part of a large team, under the Center for High Throughput Minimally Invasive Radiation Biodosimetry at Columbia University Medical Center consisting of biologists, physicists, and statisticians.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant.

Requires a bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, physics, or related science or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Some laboratory experience is preferred, especially familiarity with RNA techniques and qRT-PCR.
