Engineering Document Management People Leader

KBR is looking for an Engineering Document Management People Leader, responsible for the management of the Wilmington Operations Center (WOC) Document Management Department. As a front line leader in this position, with general autonomy, you will:

  • Be an integral member of the engineering leadership team at WOC, while being independently accountable for a staff within the engineering organization

  • Set strategic and tactical direction with regard to policy/procedures, work force staffing, and budgeting for the Document Management Department.

  • Lead the Document Management team to be a valued contributor to the organization with interactions and communications reflecting an understanding of how Document Management contributes to the overall project and office success.

  • Participate in decisions regarding the acquisition and execution of Engineering, Procurement & Construction Management (EPCm) contracts.

  • Accountable for all aspects of a diverse staff of Document Management professionals within WOC, including day-to-day operations and oversight of the department

  • Setting strategic direction for the hiring and work force staffing within the WOC Document Management Department, including active management of staffing levels so that department personnel remain balanced and sustainable

  • Holding regular employee performance conversations, including coaching, training, and developing discipline professionals

  • Recruiting, on-boarding, and orientation of new Document Management Department personnel.

  • Problem solving on the spot, developing fit for purpose solutions, and effectively meeting customer needs in real time

  • Direct resources, prioritize tasks and provide guidance to less experienced team members, relying upon experience, interpersonal skills, and broad knowledge of field to ensure task completion in compliance with policies, procedures, and business strategy.

  • Steward for the development and maintenance of Document Management Department procedures and policies for the KBR Global Document Management team, as well as the WOC Document Management Department.

  • Facilitation of Document Management Department workshare with KBR’s global presence.

  • Project technical supervision and approval of project work-hour estimates including documenting basis and risks.

  • Overall technical quality of discipline deliverables, including project audits as part of the Quality Assurance plan.

  • Responsible for maintaining project documentation files consisting of technical data, engineering and supplier drawings, technical specifications, purchase orders and other project-required documents.

  • Responsible for understanding and effective navigation of client or other third-party document management and purchase requisition systems as necessary to service projects at WOC.

  • Assist in business development activities, including proposal development, for acquisition of new work.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills (MUST MATCH THE PROFILE CODE – DELETE WHEN POSTING):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred, but not required.

  • Minimum of 10 years relevant experience, with an average of 20+ years. Proven experience and competency in the following areas:

  • Technical and administrative capabilities in an Engineering Document Management lead role for capital project execution, preferably in the industrial sector

  • General knowledge of all Document Management functions including but not limited to:

  • Processing of Supplier Documents

  • Processing of Engineering Documents/Transmittals

  • Processing of Purchase Requisitions

  • Preparation of Work Hour Estimates, including basis and risk, and Document Management Execution Plans to support Capital Projects

  • Ability to lead a team of people, either in a project or department leadership role

  • Being a team player and valued collaborator in a complex work environment
