JPMorgan Chase Head of Operations Control Management, Client Tax Operations - Executive Director in Newark, Delaware

Join the Operations Control Management (OCM) team at a senior global level, offering operational, regulatory, and governance support for our global Client Tax Operations segment within Securities Services Operations.

In this role, you will lead a team of controls managers overseeing the governance and oversight of JPMorgan's global Client Tax Operations (CTO), a firmwide utility of JPMorganChase, focusing on Custody and Markets within the CIB business. You will assess operating models and risk management controls, engage with stakeholders to mitigate operational risk, and participate in data management initiatives to enhance data-driven decision-making. You will also present the CTO controls environment to senior management and external stakeholder to further data driven decision making at the highest levels of the organization.

As the lead control manager for CTO, you will oversee a team of 8 employees to ensure efficient execution of tax-related processes and controls. You will use data analysis for real-time control evaluation, identify and mitigate risks, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and develop a data model for metrics reporting to senior management. Your role also involves driving continuous improvement, reducing risk exposure, and mentoring team members to promote a culture of learning and development.

As a lead in the broader Operations Control Management (OCM) team, you will report to the Global Head of Securities Services Operations Governance and Controls Management, helping oversee 90 employees. You will contribute to developing the OCM strategy for 2025 and support key initiatives, focusing on operational risk mitigation through a sustainable controls environment. Partnering with Operations management, you will address global regulatory changes. OCM emphasizes a joint accountability model, focusing on Control Design & Expertise, Risks & Controls Identification/Assessment, Issues & Control Deficiencies, and Control Governance & Reporting.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in risk management, exceptional data analysis and data management skills, in addition to a strong understanding of tax functions.

Job responsibilities:

  • Lead the Client Tax Operations (CTO) Control Management team, ensuring effective oversight of tax-related processes and controls, and execution of the CIB's controls management agenda.

  • Cultivate a proactive risk and control culture with proven evaluation strategies and change management protocols.

  • Foster an inclusive culture to attract, develop, and retain diverse talent, enhancing employee engagement.

  • Promote continuous learning and development within the team and supported Operations teams.

  • Partner with colleagues across the firm, including legal, compliance, risk, audit, and technology, to drive consistent operational risk practices.

  • Act as a subject matter expert on control policies, compliance requirements, and industry best practices.

  • Implement robust data analysis and management strategies to monitor CTO health and identify risks.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for accurate process execution and risk mitigation.

  • Prepare and present reports and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and stay current with tax law changes.

  • Lead interactions with audit, compliance, and regulators, and manage key metrics to inform on the risk and control environment.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • 6+ years of experience in tax operations, controls, or a related field, with a focus on data analysis and risk management

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field

  • Experience leading a global function within a regulated financial services environment

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights

  • Strong data orientation and ability to lead on data culture, practice development and tooling: proficiency in data management tools and software (e.g., Excel, SQL, Tableau)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely

  • Demonstrated experience in risk management and the development of control frameworks

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with a track record of successfully leading and developing high-performing teams

  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality

  • Highly disciplined self-starter, with the ability to execute in a fast-paced, results-driven environment
