JOB SUMMARY

Sallie Mae Bank is looking for a Manager of Modern Desktop Engineering to join its Workplace Engineering team. This position will be responsible for the planning, design, build, and support of the Microsoft M365 and Endpoint Management platforms to support Windows, IOS, and MacOS. An ideal candidate will exhibit strong scripting skills, be self-motivated, adaptable, and dependable. This individual will play a critical role in developing and implementing automated Windows and Apple endpoint solutions using Microsoft Azure services that adhere to corporate policies and processes. This individual will collaborate on multiple projects to ensure for successful completion.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

Required:

  • Undergraduate degree in an engineering or computer science discipline. 5 years or more work experience in an IT engineering role in leu of a degree.

  • Experience in information technology that includes the following:

  • Experience designing and developing solutions for application distribution, configuration management, asset management, and other endpoint lifecycle capabilities following the least privilege security model.

  • Scripting experience with a focus on automating management of windows end points.

  • Experience designing, testing, and implementing configuration, compliance, and conditional access policies within Azure.

  • Experience designing, testing, and implementing Active Directory and or azure group policies.

  • Experience designing, testing, and implementing Virtual Desktop solutions.

  • Experience managing Exchange and SharePoint platforms with an ability to troubleshot complex issues with mail flow and retention.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for a wide range of audiences including executives, business stakeholders and IT teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team and through cross functional initiatives.

  • Strong attention to detail with an ability to operate effectively across multiple priorities.

  • High degree of adaptability that keeps pace with rapid changes in IT technology.

Preferred:

  • Demonstrated experience with bringing in state of the art endpoint management capabilities into a large, geographically distributed environment.

  • Demonstrated experience architecting and engineering JAMF and Microsoft Endpoint Manager (INTUNE) solutions.

  • Demonstrated experience developing complex automation scripting for endpoint management.

  • Demonstrated experience with Agile methodology.

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

  • Provides support, oversight, governance, and tactical direction that are required to enable the delivery of end user IT services.

  • Provide significant input to the overall end user infrastructure architecture and operational governance model.

  • Researching, designing, and implementing components that are standards based, high performing, highly available, and secure in delivering the required business functionality to end users.

  • Provide operational guidance to the enterprise on the endpoint management platforms.

  • Provides assessments of the current environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommends solutions for improvement.

  • Utilizes capability modeling to align systems strategy and planning with business strategy and goals.

  • Consults with project teams to identify when it is necessary to modify services to accommodate project needs.

  • Implements and promotes standard configuration and change management, processes, and practices.

  • Develop test plans, implementation plans, and project timelines for assigned projects.

  • Provide work assignments and mentorship to a team of user infrastructure engineers using industry established best practices.

  • Provides routine status reporting of compliance and health of end user endpoints.

Delivering Technology:

  • Performs quantitative and qualitative analyses for service delivery processes and projects.

  • Supports existing systems and projects in a minimum of one environment.

  • Reviews completeness of requirements prior to solutioning

  • Plans and coordinates implementation, reviews quality control of systems functional design, usability, functionality, and implementation.

  • Coordinates with appropriate IT and vendor relations teams

  • Ensures early warning to the leadership regarding degraded or missed service levels.

IT Governance:

  • Implement and utilize automation to discover, manage, and remediate endpoints to include BIOS settings, BIOS and Driver upgrades, software patches and other configurable items to effectively manage and assure compliance of the end user endpoints.

  • Develop dashboard constructs to be implemented to provide insights to compliance, status, and a real-time overview of end-user device key performance indicators (KPIs) or data points.

  • Develop and maintain detailed process and control documentation.
