Job Overview:
The Cardiovascular Tech will assist physicians with all invasive cardiac, neuro, endovascular, electrophysiology, structural heart procedures and circulatory support devices within their scope of practice. Cardiovascular Tech will assist with the evaluation and implementation of new technologies, adherence to protocols for clinical research trials, support quality initiatives and other duties that contribute to the daily functioning of the department.
Qualifications:
Required:
Graduate of an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology.
Associate Degree in Radiologic technology
Registered with ARRT required
Preferred:
Associates or Bachelor s Degree in health science field.
Prior experience in a cardiac catheterization laboratory, invasive procedure area or special procedures radiology
Experience in Hemodynamic monitoring and sterile operative techniques.
RCIS or RCVT certification
Certifications and Licenses Required (if applicable):
Current NJ Radiology License
Current BLS & ACLS Certification prior to employment
Certification/Completion of EKG & dysrhythmia course
Scheduling Requirements (non-exempt positions):
Full-Time mostly days
On call requirements
Some weekend / holiday coverage may be required
Essential Functions
Prepares and organizes specific equipment and sterile tray for each procedure
Assists procedure room team with the positioning and preparation of patient monitoring
Calibrates all equipment and obtains, calculates, and analyzes data
Assists physicians throughout diagnostic, and/or all interventional procedures.
Loads and operates power injector and associated sterile support equipment. Maneuvers the table controls for physicians, as requested. Radiology Technologist (RT) only maneuvers fluoroscopy as requested.
Utilizes and maintains the required standards for the operation of digital cine technologies including protocols for storage and retrieval of patients images and hemodynamic records.
Adheres to practice requirements related to Clinical Cardiovascular Information Systems (CVIS)
Assists in management of inventory control, maintenance of PAR levels and preparation of required equipment for each procedure.
Operates equipment safely: Prepares and cares for equipment, returns supplies as necessary.
Application of radial access banding while maintaining hemostasis at the access site.
Recognizes and interprets cardiac arrhythmias
Active participant in quality and performance improvement initiatives
Adhere, monitor and support radiation safety standards per the organization's policy and procedure.
