Qualifications:

Required:

  • Current New Jersey licensure as a Professional Registered Nurse in good standing required.

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.

  • 1-3 years prior experience as a Registered Nurse required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) Health Care Provider Certification required.

  • Successful completion of all orientation programs required.

Preferred:

  • BSN

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • Active NJ RN license or compact RN license with NJ endorsement

  • BLS from the American Heart Association

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Day Shift

Essential Functions:

  • Coordinate and implement Bariatric navigation program at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center following the MBSAQIP guidelines.

  • Organizes and administers care to bariatric patients, utilizing a patient navigation model throughout the medical center and within the community.

  • Provides nursing care and education in collaboration with the medical staff in accordance with the objectives, policies and procedures of the hospital and the New Jersey State Nurse Practice Act.

  • Plans and provides age specific treatments, patient and family teaching and navigation throughout the hospital and medical system.

  • Provide community outreach and education programs to increase awareness of resources available for the bariatric patient population
