Position Summary:
We seek a creative and enthusiastic Graphic Designer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in visual communication, typography, color, and layout to design impactful print and digital assets that reflect NJIT's brand values and core offerings. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including marketing, writers, photographers, and other designers, to produce visually appealing and strategically sound deliverables for both digital and print platforms.
The ideal candidate is a mid-career professional with a blend of creative vision and execution rigor. This candidate is capable of managing multiple projects while maintaining a high level of design excellence. This position will be involved in the entire design process —from concept development through production and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Essential Functions:
Design visually compelling and strategically aligned materials for print and digital platforms, ensuring information is clear and accessible.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a consistent brand perception and integrated communication strategy across all outputs.
Work on design projects from conceptualization to final execution, including client meetings, ideation, revisions, and adherence to deadlines.
Maintain NJIT’s branding standards across diverse media formats while contributing creative solutions to evolving design challenges.
Assist with photoshoots, graphics editing, and asset management to support the broader creative services team.
Ensure high-quality production of print materials by strongly understanding pre-press processes, file preparation, and print production.
Stay updated on emerging design trends, tools, and technologies, including digital and print design software.
Prerequisite Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or a related field; a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) is preferred.
2-4 years of professional experience in graphic design with a strong portfolio showcasing your ability to create high-impact, brand-consistent designs across print and digital media.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat) and familiarity with project management tools such as Monday.com.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate design concepts and receive constructive feedback.
Strong knowledge of typography, layout, and visual design principles, combined with hands-on experience in print production processes.
Flexibility to learn and adopt new design tools and emerging technologies, including motion graphics or illustration (a plus).
High level of professionalism and the ability to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in motion graphics, HTML5 ad design or illustration.
Knowledge of asset management tools like Canto and familiarity with brand compliance tools like eMerchant.
