Job Overview:
Performs a wide range of duties for the Dental Department. Schedules patient appointments, answers telephones, registers patients into computer systems and prepares the necessary charts for visits. Collects payments from patients for services rendered. Obtains referrals, enters charges into system, reconciles visits to charges daily. Works with patients and other team members to assess needs and participate in carrying out the providers plans for the patients.
Qualifications:
Required:
CPAR certified at least one year after hire
Knowledge of medical terminology and medical insurance.
Prior experience in office practice setting
Working knowledge dental coding
Successful completion of site personnel general orientation
Strong customer service orientation
Scheduling Requirements:
Day shift, Mon-Thur 8:00am-5:15pm, Fri 8:00am-12:15pm, as needed basis
Per Diem
Essential Functions:
Answers all telephone calls promptly, screens and triages calls
Relays messages promptly
Reconciles cash collection to log and deposits at cashier s office daily
Confers with providers and for special circumstances scheduling situations
Enter charges in computer system within 24 hours of encounter.
Greets patients, visitors and all who require registration in a timely, courteous manner and assist as necessary
Files all appropriate labs and other documents into the chart and maintains an orderly and organized chart
Maintains cash collection in cash drawer and keeps under lock and key until time to deposit
Obtains complete patient demographic and insurance information and enters into the computer system. Makes appropriate copies as required
Obtains pre-certifications and pre-authorization and referrals for visits, procedures etc as required by insurance
Prints back up schedules weekly to insure against computer crashes.
Prepare charts 2 days in advance of appointment, verify insurance and prepare superbill
Purges charts on a regular basis using established guidelines
Reconciles visits to charge entry on a daily basis and insures that visits have been appropriately billed
Schedules patient s appointments for office visits, procedures. Generates appointment schedule for providers daily
Verifies patient insurance and address at every visit
Performs all other duties as required
