Par Excellence STEM Academy Physical Education Teacher in Newark, Ohio

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Student Services and within the area of his/her professional expertise, the Physical Education Teacher is responsible for planning, implementing, and assessing physical education lessons that promote the physical, social, and emotional development of students. The PE teacher will foster a nurturing and inclusive environment, encouraging every student to explore various physical activities and develop lifelong healthy habits. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job. • Plans, develops, and executes engaging PE lessons aligned with Ohio Standards for Learning for Physical Education. • Integrates technology and innovative teaching methods to enhance the physical education curriculum. • Plans, develops, and executes engaging gross motor and sports activities during recess. • Educates students about the importance of physical fitness and healthy lifestyles. • Provides instruction in a variety of physical activities, ensuring students gain exposure to skills like coordination, balance, and teamwork. • Maintains a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment. • Manages class equipment and resources responsibly. • Motivates students to participate actively in physical activities. • Provides additional support or adaptation for students with disabilities or other identified needs. • Collaborates with classroom teachers to integrate physical education with other curricular areas. • Stays updated on the latest developments in physical education and related fields. • Consults with intervention specialists and related services providers to provide observations and information for students' ETRs, IEPs, 504 plans, and Functional Behavior Plans, promptly completing assessments as required. • Communicates effectively with fellow staff members and with parents on a regular basis. • Conducts annual physical education state assessments for 2nd and 5th grade students, reporting results to the building testing coordinator. • Adheres to and complies with all established laws, policies, rules, and regulations. • Participates in additional training and professional development as designated by the Superintendent, Director of Student Services, instructional leads, and the district. • Participates in schoolwide teams and committees to promote holistic solutions to meeting student needs • Maintains high level of confidentiality, abiding by HIPAA & FERPA laws • Actively seeks out professional development opportunities and continuous improvement, remaining current in knowledge of best practices and research in area of practice • Additional duties and support as required by school administration, including arrival, dismissal, recess, and lunch duties. COMPETENCIES • Detail-oriented with strong organizational, problem-solving, data analysis, and time-management skills. • Strong oral and written communication skills. • Skill in exercising tact and discretion when communicating with students, parents, teachers, administrators, and support staff, maintaining a high level of confidentiality. • Ability to interact with students to maintain discipline, order, and resolve disciplinary problems. • Ability to assist students with various physical, social, and intellectual needs. • Ability to handle behavioral situations in a calm and effective manner. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • Possession of a Bachelors (or higher) degree from an accredited institution of higher education • Possession of a valid State of Ohio Resident Educator, Alternate Resident Educator, or Professional Educator License in the area of Physical Education.
