Data-Mail Senior Digital Production Artist in Newington, Connecticut

LOCATION: Newington, CT. This is an in person role, not hybrid, not remote

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:30 am - 5:00 pm

Summary

The Sr. Digital Production Artist plays a critical role in preparing client artwork for digital production, emphasizing color accuracy and adaptability in both Mac and PC environments. This position requires someone with Prepress experience and/or production print experience with a keen eye for detail, excellent color acuity, and technical expertise in scripting, automation, and variable data workflows. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of prepress, production, and digital printing technologies.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Cross-Platform Proficiency: Navigate and utilize both PC and Mac environments efficiently, adapting to various software and project needs.

  • Color Management Expertise: Adjust CMYK and Pantone colors to meet precise client specifications, ensuring fidelity and consistency in digital print work.

  • Digital Print Technologies Knowledge: Demonstrate expertise in wide format, electrostatic, and inkjet printing.

  • Prepress & Production: Build and manipulate prepress files to prepare artwork for print, ensuring compatibility with variable data workflows and client specifications.

  • Scripting & Automation: Develop variable data workflows, create scripts, and utilize test data to ensure job readiness.

  • Software Proficiency: Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite and a willingness to learn new tools on both PC and Mac platforms.

  • Color Acuity: Strong color vision to perform precise color adjustments and proofing while maintaining high color standards.

  • File Conversion and Manipulation: Manipulate files across software to obtain required graphics or text, following client instructions to meet specifications.

  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Collaborate with all departments to meet production standards.

  • Client Onboarding: Assist with the onboarding of new clients and their creatives.

  • Team Support: Work closely with the Digital Print Operations Engineer and Laser Room on tasks such as paper linearization.

  • Process Improvement: Support color proofing, color adjustments, and continuous process improvements.

  • Independent Project Management: Manage complex projects independently with minimal assistance.

  • SOP Updates and Training: Partner with management on SOP updates, peer training, and process improvements.

  • Backup Support: Serve as backup for scheduling, work assignments, and production meetings in the manager’s absence.

  • Cost Analysis: Conduct ink cost analyses to assess profitability on digital work.

  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with company policies and confidentiality standards.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 1–3 years in a fast-paced production setting, with experience in digital printing, prepress, or related field preferred.

  • Education: High school diploma required; college-level coursework preferred.

  • Skills: Detail-oriented, strong communication skills, able to maintain high accuracy, and adaptable to a client-driven environment.
