Position Overview

The Electrical Engineer participates in the electrical design and implementation of verification and qualifications plans for undersea network element designs. This individual collaborates with mechanical, firmware and production engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Executes qualification testing for new products

  • Conducts analog and digital circuit design and simulation.

  • Conducts high voltage design and testing at voltages up to 25 kV. Testing includes breakdown voltage, leakage current and partial discharge testing.

  • Contributes to hands-on experimental work on prototype components, circuits and assemblies

  • Documents work in appropriate reports and PowerPoint presentations.

  • Reports on progress at weekly team meetings, and design reviews

  • Consistently ensures that business is always conducted with integrity and that behavior aligns with SubCom policies, procedures, and core values.

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or physics, or equivalent years of experience required.

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering relevant to this position.

  • Strong experimental and laboratory skills.

  • Measurement automation experience with Nation Instruments products.

  • Circuit simulation experience with products like PSpice of LTSpice.

  • Ability to solder, complete electronic circuit assembly and wiring skills

  • A self-starter with the demonstrated ability to take initiative, who can proactively identify issues/opportunities and recommend actions

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

  • Experience working with single mode optical fiber, fiber optic components and optical measurement techniques.

  • Strong results orientation with a proven track record of flawless execution and strong attention to detail
