Job Summary

This position is responsible for the manufacturing and conditioning of tooling used throughout GKN East to the specifications of the job assigned through the utilization of 5-axis CNC grinding machinery at GKN Aerospace Newington, LLC (GANE).

Job Responsibilities

• Operate a cutter grind machines for the manufacturing of tooling as well as secondary machinery to finish the tooling process • Conduct machine set-ups for assigned work. • Ensures correct use of inspection equipment, tooling, and preventive maintenance procedures. • Reports unusual problems to the Supervisor/Manager. • Capable for performing technical layouts. • Basic troubleshooting skills; such as identifying tooling and machine issues. • Maintains a good quality track record. • Assisting with quality control procedures to ensure that the quality of all products meet specifications in current and subsequent operations. • Takes on an active role in process improvement and program development if needed. • Following all shop safety procedures, such as wearing appropriate personal protective equipment including clothing, steel toed footwear, hearing protection and eye protection. • Responsible for machining all tooling including the finishing process • All other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED; Associate’s degree in Machine Technology or Machining or additional training a plus. • 2+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment • Ability to read blueprints and follow work instructions. • Familiarity with the use of measuring devices

Preferred Qualifications:

• GKN Aerospace Experience • Experience working on an Anca Cutter Grinder Machine • Strong mechanical background • Knowledge of cutting tools e.g. - endmills, drills, form tools, ball mills. • Proficient in Microsoft programs

Physical Requirements:

• Minimal standing and walking (5-6hrs/day). • Ability to carry and lift weight up to 30lbs. • Bending, squatting, reaching, pushing, and pulling required (1-2hrs.day). • Use of hands for fine dexterity, light and strong grasping (At least 7hrs/day).
