CNC Laser Set-Up Operator

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled CNC Laser Set-Up Operator to join our team. As a CNC Laser Set-Up Operator, you will be responsible for producing high-quality sheet metal parts by setting up and operating CNC co2 or fiber laser machines. Your expertise in machine set-up, program retrieval, and precision measuring will be crucial in ensuring accurate and efficient production. The ideal candidate will have experience in a sheet metal job shop or contract manufacturing environment.

Job Specifications:

• Job Type: Full-time

• Location: Newport News, VA

-Pay $24/hr

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate CNC co2 or fiber laser machines to produce sheet metal parts

• Perform machine set-up tasks, including program retrieval, gas and nozzle selection, lens cleaning, and adjustments

• Start up and shut down laser machines according to standard procedures

• Perform multiple setups per shift for short runs and longer production runs

• Check the accuracy of work using blueprints and precision measuring tools such as calipers

• Edit G code as necessary

• Work from blueprints, rough sketches, and customer samples for prototype production

Qualifications & Skills:

• Previous experience as a CNC Laser Set-Up Operator in a sheet metal job shop or contract manufacturing environment

• Proficiency in machine set-up and operation, including program retrieval and adjustments

• Strong knowledge of G code editing

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work from rough sketches and customer samples

• Familiarity with precision measuring tools such as calipers
