CNC Press Brake Operator

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled CNC Press Brake Operator to join our team. As a CNC Press Brake Operator, you will be responsible for producing high-quality sheet metal parts using our state-of-the-art equipment. Your expertise in machine setup, program retrieval, and precision measuring tools will be crucial in ensuring the efficient production of parts. Job Specifications:

- Job Type : Full-time

- Location: Newport News

  • Pay Rate: $25-27/ hr

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate a CNC Press Brake to produce sheet metal parts

  • Perform machine setup, including program retrieval and tooling setup

  • Work efficiently to produce the maximum number of parts in minimum time

  • Perform multiple setups per shift for short runs and longer production runs

  • Utilize press brake tooling effectively, including choosing, changing, and maintaining tools

  • Check the accuracy of work using blueprints and precision measuring tools such as calipers

  • Create and edit programs on a CNC Press Brake for light gauge sheet metal forming

  • Read and interpret shop floor drawings, layouts, and job folders

  • Work from blueprints, rough sketches, and customer samples for prototype production and small batches

  • Make informed decisions to ensure the quality and precision of the produced parts

  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of the machine and work area

  • Collaborate with maintenance and repair technicians to diagnose equipment problems

  • Select correct materials based on material tags and work orders

  • Safely locate and move raw materials and parts using a pallet jack or forklift

  • Record daily production activity

  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment

  • Work effectively with engineering personnel and other machine operators

  • Lift up to 75 lbs throughout the shift

  • Follow all safety rules and maintain a clean working environment

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience as a CNC Press Brake Operator in a sheet metal job shop or contract manufacturing environment

  • Proficiency in machine setup, program retrieval, and tooling setup

  • Strong knowledge of press brake tooling and its maintenance

  • Ability to check the accuracy of work using blueprints and precision measuring tools

  • Skill in creating and editing programs on a CNC Press Brake for light gauge sheet metal forming

  • Familiarity with reading and interpreting shop floor drawings, layouts, and job folders

  • Decision-making skills to ensure the quality and precision of produced parts

  • Physical ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, squat, reach, and perform repetitive hand and finger movements

  • Comfortable working in cold or hot temperatures in the plant

  • Excellent attendance record
