CNC Programmer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced CNC Programmer to join our team. You will be responsible for programming and maintaining file revisions of client parts, interpreting engineering blueprints, working with client engineers, and utilizing CAD/CAM software to continuously improve run time and programming time. The ideal candidate should have experience in sheet metal fabrication and possess strong attention to detail. This is a fast-paced customer service-oriented environment, so the ability to thrive under pressure is a must.

Job Specifications:

- Job Type : Full-time 1st shift 7am-330pm

- Location: Newport News, VA

- Pay: $30-35/ hr

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Program and maintain current file revisions of all client parts

  • Interpret engineering blueprints to draw program flat pattern layouts of parts

  • Work with client engineers to ensure accurate specifications

  • Reverse engineer parts for manufacturing purposes

  • Make machine tooling selections to manufacture parts in the most cost-effective manner

  • Design and request procurement of tools necessary for production

  • Prepare detailed standardized work instructions and set-up sheets

  • Utilize CAD/CAM software to continuously improve run time and programming time

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Attention to detail

  • Strong mathematical skills, including knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, and their applications

  • Critical thinking skills to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions

  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production interpretation of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models, specifically for sheet metal fabrication

  • Familiarity with production processes, bend deductions, turret punch press tooling, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing effective manufacture of goods

  • Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines

  • Ability to handle high-stress situations calmly and effectively

  • Dependability and thoroughness in completing all tasks

  • Persistence in the face of obstacles

  • Engineering experience/background with strong mechanical aptitude is helpful

Opportunities:

  • Opportunity to work with state-of-the-art CNC machinery, including Amada ENSIS 3015 AJZ 9000 Watt Fiber Laser, Amada EM3612ZRT 33-Ton Turret Punch Press with High Capacity Tool Rack and Automatic Tool Changer, Amada Vipros VPZ3510 PDC Turret Punch Press, and Mazak Laser Champion 510

  • Chance to utilize software such as Amada Dr ABE Sheetworks, TekSoft, and Solidworks

    Working knowledge of SolidWorks, CAMWorks, and a computerized nesting software, preferably SigmaNEST, is required. Ability to understand G Codes, including the ability to write, edit, and troubleshoot production and technical issues, is also essential.
