Actalent Project Engineer in Newport, Tennessee

Job Title: Project EngineerJob Description

The Lead Project Engineer’s main function is to execute capital projects for the site from the conceptual phase through construction and closeout. This role involves managing and providing technical support for projects impacting significant plant areas with multiple intertwined technical disciplines. Projects include Capital Projects and Plant Improvements/initiatives. The engineer will strive for continual improvements in plant safety, efficiency, and quality, while providing technical support to all areas of the plant.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the development of budgetary scopes and project descriptions.

  • Write, review, and submit capital projects for approval.

  • Develop and assist in the creation of Gantt charts and bid packages.

  • Act as a construction liaison with various contractors to fully implement project scopes.

  • Manage overall project costs and escalate significant over- or under-runs.

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts across various departments to gather necessary information and technical knowledge.

  • Schedule and prioritize work for contractors.

  • Ensure safety and environmental concerns are addressed and resolved through Safety Review meetings and PHA/MOC’s.

  • Plan and assist in commissioning and start-up processes.

  • Obtain sign-offs on final project completion forms to formally turn systems back over to the appropriate owner.

  • Ensure all close-out items, including Training, Preventive Maintenance Implementation, and Project Documentation, are completed.

  • Perform all work with a Can-Do attitude, aiming for high quality and timely completion of projects.

Essential Skills

  • Project management and cost reduction in a manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to apply engineering principles to meet project goals or solve technical problems.

  • Proficiency with engineering tools.

  • Capability to manage multiple projects with competing time and resources.

  • Familiarity with engineering design and practices to prioritize and manage engineering resources effectively.

  • Ability to establish workflows that maximize engineering productivity and minimize capital use.

  • Knowledge of project cost and schedule control methods and tools.

  • Effective communication and teamwork skills to achieve timely project implementation.

  • Strong organizational skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • B.S. in Engineering (ABET) or equivalent experience.

  • Strong skills in MS-Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Maintenance Connection.

  • Strong analytical, technical, reporting, presentation, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with site operators and mechanics to understand and solve problems.

  • Masters in Engineering or MBA is a plus.

  • Experience in chemical manufacturing, construction, or plant engineering is a plus.

Work Environment

Ability to work in a factory environment and adapt to both Union and Non-Union Workforce environments. Must pass a medical physical exam by company doctors and remain capable in accordance with the prescribed 'Fit for Duty' job analysis where required by site location. The role involves working with various technologies and equipment, requiring a proactive approach to learning new technologies and seeking better solutions to problems.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00
