Actalent Applications Engineer in Niles, Michigan

Job Title: Applications EngineerJob Description

The Applications Engineer will play a crucial role in working directly with our valued customers to create and develop cost/budget, proposals, and mechanical descriptions. Additionally, they will provide technical follow up for equipment/machines. This role, while being a support to the sales team, will require advanced technical knowledge. Understanding machine function, metal behavior, and accurately predicting the level of effort/time for engineering and design are key to this role. When not immersed in the applications aspect, they will contribute to the mechanical design and development of machines. Daily responsibilities will include engaging with customers, developing proposals, interacting with sales and management teams, presenting concepts, assisting the internal proposal design team, documenting technical requirements, and providing technical advisories. The role may also require pulling up customer or machine history for evaluation.

Hard Skills

  • 3+ years' experience in Applications working with industrial equipment

  • Experience as main point of contact with customer

  • Experience creating and presenting costing, quotes and proposals

  • Mechanical Design experience

  • Ability to read technical drawings and make adjustments

Soft Skills

  • Customer engagement

  • Interdepartmental coordination

  • Presentation skills

  • Documentation skills

Job Type

This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 12 Month(s).

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Niles, Michigan.

Work Environment

Our company is an innovative manufacturer of customized and integrated metal forming equipment located in Niles, Michigan. Our machines include expanding, shrinking, rotary roll forming, spinning, and emission canning as our core technologies. Our world-class Customer Service organization supports equipment globally and includes full retrofits and rebuilds. As an Applications Engineer, you will be reporting to the Engineering Manager and can expect 45-hour work weeks with some travel when needed. You will be working on a team with another Applications Engineer, but also closely with the Project Engineer, Mechanical Engineers, and Controls Engineers.
