Job Summary

Reporting to the Sr. Associate Athletics Director – Facilities and Operations. This individual will be responsible for coordinating day-to-day maintenance, long- and short-term planning and preparation for all ODU Athletics sports fields, grounds, and landscaping within all athletic facilities including competition fields, practice fields and common areas both artificial and natural.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree with equivalent related experience.

VDACS Registered Technician preferred and / or Certified Fertilizer Applicator preferred or ability to achieve within 6 months of employment. Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Several years of experience managing athletic fields at the college or professional level

Experience with safe use and maintenance of athletic field maintenance equipment such as reel mowers, tractors, sprayers, light utility vehicles, aerifiers, verticutters, sod cutters, top dressers, trailers, and field lining equipment; strong interpersonal and communication skills

Personnel management and ability to work with a diverse group of employees.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in budget management

This position must be able to work nights and weekends.
