Job Title: Marine Electrician

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Marine Electrician to interpret work specifications, blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics. The ideal candidate will have a strong electrical background, including a deep understanding of how electricity works and basic electrical theory. This role involves troubleshooting complex problems on electrical equipment and systems, writing reports, ordering materials, and reporting any abnormal conditions related to safety or mechanics.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret work specifications, blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics.

  • Write reports, order materials, and report any abnormal conditions related to safety or mechanical issues.

  • Troubleshoot complex problems on electrical equipment and systems.

  • Run cabling into ships without performing pin connectorization or live terminations.

  • Repair and refurbish electrical lighting systems, communication systems, and other systems aboard ships that operate off electrical power.

Essential Skills

  • Strong electrical background with an understanding of how electricity works and basic electrical theory.

  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics.

  • Experience with wiring, troubleshooting, and using meters and cables.

  • 7 years of experience as a marine electrician with a stable job history (for 1st class electricians).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Required training: VSRA, OSHA, MHI Safety Training.

  • Fiber certification and connector training is a plus.

Work Environment

Must be able to obtain a DBIDS working at Naval bases. You will work in a dynamic and challenging environment, requiring adherence to safety protocols and standards.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Norfolk, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00
